developmental law = Entwicklungsgesetz Mendel may refer to the law formulated on p. 17, s. 1, which he does address explicitly as a “developmental law” later on, but the more likely candidate of this cross reference is the “law of combination of differing traits” invoked at the very end of the preceding section (p. 32, s. 2). It is also interesting that he uses the singular; presumably, he thought of what we today call the “law of segregation” as subsidiary law only; see p. 18, s. 7 for further discussion of Mendel’s “laws”.
