Ph. nanus hatte nebst der zwergartigen Axe grüne einfach gewölbte Hülsen, Ph. vulgaris hingegen eine 10–12′ hohe Axe und gelb gefärbte, zur Zeit der Reife eingeschnürte Hülsen.
Alongside a dwarfish axis, Ph. nanus has green and simply arched pods, whereas Ph. vulgaris has a 10–12′ high axis and, at the time of maturity, yellow coloured, constricted pods.
