2nd trial: Of 519 plants which were reared from seeds whose albumen had a yellow colouration in the first generation, 166 gave exclusively yellow, but 353 yellow and green seed in a ratio of 3 : 1.

The manuscript has a colon after Versuch, which we have reintroduced in our translation, although Mendel did not correct this in his off-print.
