This sentence repeats, in slightly simplified terms, the statement made at the end of Section 6, to which Mendel then refers as a “developmental law” at the beginning of Section 8; see p. 17, s. 1 and p. 18, s. 7. In the manuscript, this sentence directly continues from the preceding, without a full stop and capitalisation of die, a mistake that the printer corrected.
