Ein weiss blühendes Exemplar von Dianthus Caryophyllus, welches selbst von einer weissblumigen Varietät abstammte, wurde während der Blüthezeit in einem Glashause abgesperrt; die zahlreich davon gewonnenen Samen gaben Pflanzen mit durchaus gleicher weisser Blüthenfarbe.
A white-flowering specimen of Dianthus Caryophyllus, which had itself arisen from a white-flowered variety, was shut up a greenhouse for the duration of the flowering period; the many seeds obtained from it gave plants with entirely identical white flower colour.
