of the same kind = gleichartig This adjective derives from the German word for “species”, Art; see p. 6, s. 14 for Mendel’s definition of species. Since Mendel is relying on an analogy between macroscopic “forms” and microscopic “constitutions” (see p. 24, s. 8) one might also have translated “of the same species”.

mother plant = Mutterpflanze It is clear from the context that this is supposed to designate the plant that produces the propagation cells, i.e. both (male) pollen and (female) germ cells. “Maternal”, that is, is not used here in the sense of the plant that produces female gametes only.
