With respect to the conformation of the hybrids, and the development they undergo as a rule, an agreement with the observations made in Pisum is unmistakable.
It is unclear why Mendel places emphasis on the terms Gestalt and Entwicklung. The only likely explanation is that he wants to contrast Entwicklung with the unaltered propagation of the hybrid conformation mentioned in the preceding sentence. Entwicklung would thus indicate a process in which difference, or diversity, is first hidden, or latent, and then unfolded.
