Es wurden erhalten bei dem

2. Versuche 31 runde gelbe, 26 runde grüne, 27 kantige gelbe, 26 kantige grüne Samen;
4. Versuche 24 runde gelbe, 25 runde grüne, 22 kantige gelbe, 27 kantige grüne Samen.
An einem günstigen Erfolge war nun kaum mehr zu zweifeln, die nächste Generation müsste die endgiltige Entscheidung bringen. Von den angebauten Samen kamen im folgenden Jahre bei dem ersten Versuche 90, bei dem dritten 87 Pflanzen zur Fruchtbildung; von diesen brachten bei dem

  • Bei dem zweiten und vierten Versuche gaben die runden und gelben Samen Pflanzen mit runden und kantigen, gelben und grünen SamenAaBb.
  • Von den runden grünen Samen wurden Pflanzen erhalten mit runden und kantigen grünen SamenAab.  
  • Die kantigen gelben Samen gaben Pflanzen mit kantigen gelben und grünen SamenaBb.  
  • Aus den kantigen grünen Samen wurden Pflanzen gezogen, die wieder nur kantige grüne Samen brachtenab.    
Obwohl auch bei diesen beiden Versuchen einige Samen nicht keimten, konnte dadurch in den schon im vorhergehenden Jahre gefundenen Zahlen nichts geändert werden, da jede Samenart Pflanzen gab, die in Bezug auf die Samen unter sich gleich und von den anderen verschieden waren. Es brachten daher:

Bei allen Versuchen erschienen daher sämmtliche Formen, welche die gemachte Voraussetzung verlangte, und zwar in nahezu gleicher Anzahl.

  • From the angular green seeds, plants were reared that again only gave angular green seedsab.    
Although in these two experiments as well some seeds did not germinate, this could not change anything in the numbers that had been found in the previous year already, because each species of seed gave plants that were equal among themselves, and different from the others, with respect to the seeds. In all trials, therefore, all forms appeared which the proposed presupposition demanded, and they did so in almost equal quantities.
