Bei einer weiteren Probe wurden die Merkmale der Blüthenfarbe und Axenlänge in die Versuche aufgenommen, und die Auswahl so getroffen, dass im dritten Versuchsjahre jedes Merkmal an der Hälfte sämmtlicher Pflanzen hervortreten musste, falls die obige Annahme ihre Richtigkeit hatte. A, B, a, b dienen wieder zur Bezeichnung der verschiedenen Merkmale.

Die Form Ab wurde befruchtet mit ab, woraus die Hybride Aab hervorging. Ferner wurde befruchtet aB gleichfalls mit ab, daraus die Hybride aBb. Im zweiten Jahre wurde für die weitere Befruchtung die Hybride Aab als Samenpflanze, die andere aBb als Pollenpflanze verwendet.

In a further test the traits of flower colour and axis length were included in the experiments, and selection made in such a way that each trait had to emerge on one half of all plants in the third year of the experiment, if the above assumption was correct. A, B, a, b serve once again to designate the different traits.

The form Ab was fertilized with ab, from which the hybrid Aab arose. Furthermore, aB was fertilized with ab as well, from which the hybrid aBb arose. In the second year, the hybrid Aab was utilized as seed plant, and the other, aBb, as pollen plant for further fertilisation.
